It’s 2016! Another year to live our lives. We may have met new people last year but we also lost some. People come and go. Now, let’s say goodbye to 2015 and continue to grow and look forward for what’s in store for us this year.
That aside, my first review for this year will be the Maybelline Velvet Matte Liquid Lip Color. When it was released last year, everyone was getting hyped since from the original price of P349, they made their introductory price for only P299. Sadly, I was unable to take advantage of it since when I went to Robinsons Forum, the MAT 9 shade that I was eyeing for was already sold out.
Fortunately, they had it on sale again on December for P250 each and I was able to purchase the MAT 9 at Mall of Asia. I also got the MAT 6 as a gift from my colleague during our Christmas party.
When I first tried it, I was inlove with the MAT 9 shade. It’s really red and it’s a it-makes-your-teeth-look-whiter kind of red. The MAT 6 has a pretty pinkish berry shade which you can use for an everyday look. I love both of them! It is very pigmented at first swipe and the brush is wide enough to cover your lips. At first, I honestly didn’t really like the brush but I got used to it.
The only downside that I noticed is that the lipstick smudges easily, especially at first application. It has a creamy finish at first but it takes time before it sits and become matte. Also, it’s not that really matte.
Thankfully, I found an alternative to resolve the issue! After applying the lipstick, I would place a tissue on my lips and just dust powder on top of it. It works great! After doing so, the lipstick becomes matte but still has a creamy feel to it. My lips are naturally super dry so I put lip balm first before putting this on and after 4-5 hours, it becomes dry again.
Overall, I think these liquid lippies are good for an affordable price. Though I have not tried the other shades, I think these are worth buying.
Have you tried these yet? Let me know what you think.
