I’m not really into mascaras before because I think nothing works well on my thin and stick straight eyelashes. I remember trying on a mascara when I was in high school but unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me. Since then, mascara has never been a part of my makeup routine.
However, things have changed. BDJ Box posted a sneak peek on their Facebook account about a mascara and I was actually pretty excited about it. When I received my BDJ Box Elite May 2016, the newest Revlon Volume & Length Magnified Mascara (P650) was included in it. I wanted to give mascaras a chance and see if there’s still hope to change my eyelash game.
When I first opened the mascara, I noticed that the consistency is quite dry. I liked it because based on my previous experience, watery mascaras tend to transfer on my lids. I also like how the wand looks like. It has a square brush which hugs your lashes and helps lift and add volume to it. As for the packaging, I find it really nice and sturdy.
On my first application, I can definitely see the difference already. It lengthens my lashes pretty well. It also gives volume to my thin lashes and makes it more visible. What I like most about it is it doesn’t clump that much even after I apply it multiple times. I hate clumping mascaras because it makes my lashes look fewer. Also, it’s not difficult to remove. A few swipes of cotton with a makeup remover can delete the product forever. 😀
What I don’t like about the Revlon Volume & Length Magnified Mascara is that it doesn’t hold my curls. After 30 minutes with this on, my curled lashes goes back to being straight. Since this was only included on my BDJ Box, I’m not sure if this has a waterproof formula or not. I can’t find it indicated on the packaging. Until, there came a time when I was sweating heavily and I cried with this on, that’s when I knew it was not waterproof.
I’ve read from the internet that mascaras with waterproof formula can help hold the curls on Asian straight lashes. So maybe that’s why this mascara didn’t hold my curls pretty well. When I went to the department store, I asked the sales attendant on Revlon’s stall about it and they said there’s a waterproof and non-waterproof formula available on their new mascara line. That’s when I knew mine was not.
Verdict
Overall, the Revlon Volume & Length Magnified Mascara is impressive. This made me realize that all hope is not lost for my thin and straight lashes at all. Hehe. The non-waterproof formula doesn’t help hold the curls on my lashes, but the rest of the results are pretty good. Did it do what it claims to do? For me, it does. It may not be the best formula for my needs, but I believe this will do pretty well with those who has decent eyelashes.
