An Interview with Alvin Raymundo of WidgetboyPH

blog interview

When I started AikaNeko last year using WordPress as my platform, I was very lucky because it was my friend Alvin who helped me set it all up. I have little knowledge about setting up a blog (getting my own domain/hosting) and I was very impatient about it. Good thing, I had all the help that I needed. I think I only worked on the theme of this blog because Alvin have already done everything else for me. LOL. Until now, I still ask him for suggestions for my blog and he continually reminds me to always update it.

So this week, I decided to interview him and virtually introduce him to you guys.

1.) Tell me about yourself.

I don’t have much to say. I’m a painful introvert with very little knowledge about social interaction. I like Harry Potter, Pokémon and sleeping. I spend my free time with my eyes glued to my phone. I limit my interactions to a few people as I hate everyone, not maliciously, though.
I blog, obviously. I work at night and I sleep most part of the day. Bad things happen when you try new things. I listen to the very same music I’m listening to ten years ago with very little new addition.
2.) Tell me more about your blog and why did you choose this niche?

I always have a lot to say about things. I’m not a very good conversationalist and it’s easier to share my thoughts through writing. I choose to blog about gadgets because there is so much to write about them. I’m very tech-oriented and I never run out of material for the blog.

3.) How do you motivate yourself to keep the blog up and running?

I’ve been trying to maintain a blog for quite some time now. None of them lasted long but with this new one I put up last December might be the one. I’m very into the subject and I have a lot of ideas so the blog is not about to slow down.

The Analytics is very encouraging too. I’m gradually building my online presence and I’m pretty satisfied with the results.

4.) In the future where do you hope your blog will take you?

I want to be important enough that people will actually believe what I’m saying. The object of my blog is very clear: I want tech to be accessible to ordinary Pinoy so they can make the most out of it.

Also, the freebies are looking great for other tech bloggers!

5.) What is the biggest difference in your life post-blogging?

Well, there’s not much actually. The blogging is not too demanding as a hobby. There are no deadlines to worry about. Ever since I started blogging about gadgets, I became more receptive of other people’s thoughts about it.

6.) Describe how did you first get into blogging?

I started way back in high school. Friendster was all the rage then and they added a blogging platform and I decided to make it like a personal journal; more like a diary. I started posting completely random things. Since then I put up quite a few blogs. I owned 4real4real.net for two years and it started getting regular readers. I had to leave my first job that gave me the domain and hosting for the blog so it had to be shut down.

But now we have WidgetBoyPH.

7.) If you are given a choice to change who you are today, what would you want to be?

I’m 25 years old and I still haven’t decided what I want to do with my life. Given another option, I think I would still be in the tech industry. I always wanted to be a programmer. I really want programming when I was in high school and I believe I can be good at it. I might go back to school to pursue that.

8.) Will you recommend blogging to others? What advice can you give to those who would like to start their blog?

Everyone should maintain a blog at some point in their lives. It could be about anything. It’s actually therapeutic and it doesn’t matter whether anyone will care to read it. What matters is you get to say what you have to say.

Write about what interests you and have fun doing it. Let your creativity run wild.

That’s it for the interview! For more information about Alvin, if you need help with your blog (Lol) or if you want to be up-to-date about technology, please feel free to contact him!
